we had a real big challenge it was not very easy we had come all the way from south to the uh capital of our country Delhi where language was the hurdle you know and to make people understand the word aya was not known and to make people understand about this holistic system was really tough they would you know question you with so many things as to why we should be doing a 14-day therapy and just I have a pain in my knee and why do you do my whole body treatment they didn't understand what ayurida was the holistic system of ayurida has to be explained to them and make them understand so all this took a lot of time and not very easy to convert into treatments or therapies you know because the belief was not there at all.
we wanted a doctors also from Kerala because this is a Kerala system of treatment the panchakarma treatment that we wanting to promote and only Kerala people understood this panchaka karma. This was never known in this part of the country at all. But the language as I said was a barrier. They could never speak Hindi nor English. So it was very very difficult to make a customer understand what this uh the um actual treatment that they have to do. what would be the result and why you should be doing so all that to explain I had to learn the subject and then it became more easier and then we could people could understand and then that's how we progress from you know slowly and steadily
If you dilute it and spoil the real concept of ayida just to make a fast you know profit or whatever it won't go forward
so much more than medicines
Leadership is uh something that uh you nurture yourself. You nurture it. Uh it's not by being okay, you're the boss and everyone should obey you. It's not like that. You you your staff, your your therapists, your other medical people around or it should be like a teamwork. You should form a team like when we started it was more like a house, you know. Everyone knew each other very well. we interacted because it was small core but and having done that like you're like a family like you know then it worked out very well so everyone wants to put their 100% to the job nobody bothers okay it is now 6:00 I have to run no they will wait till the work is over do complete the job thoroughly and with so much of passion that is very important dedication and passion all that just automatically comes when you are very uh what to say compassionate and you know yeah and not very you you're sure what you want to do you you want to do but you won't boss on that you will you put it properly and you'll uh get get the things done so that's what I call able to lead a team without without any hassles
I would say my um promoting of Ayurida and I feel very happy about it is first of all it is Indian 100% Indian so I'm very proud to say that somet
you have so many centers around the world and Kerali is a credible brand
it's not something a trend it's a lifestyle It is a science that benefits mankind and it will go forward
people who that has come to us and seeing the absor observation of this many years of our work we could see how much benefit we have been giving people. People who coming from abroad they come on a wheelchair and they go back on their to you know walking that itself was enough feeling of happiness and feeling very good that we whatever we started has really benefited people
they should be dedicated their heart and soul should go into it in whatever they are doing and they should not dilute the system they have to keep it in it authentic authenticity which is so important
give it its time slowly and steadily it definitely will grow grow and in the long run it'll benefit you only
it was a challenge we know the uh challenge itself was we wanted IA to retain and progress and you know and grow it was a period when I was declining when being the industry of manufacturing we could see that the aya was declining and this beautiful science that India has was just going to die. So this prompted us let's not let's take a you know a step and take it forward that's how we thought of bringing this concept of weather with the treatments and therapies over here
Being a woman I don't think there was any big difference in it because first in the first place I never considered that you know I'm a woman and I'm doing something like this. Uh it was something that I wanted to do and just went ahead doing it.
I think you make a world a healthy world and that gives me makes me feel very happy
the team that we had created were all you know coming from south very doile nice people easy to maintain they knew knew what they have to do and very cooperative. So there was no big hurdle to come up with this concept and get it done like the only problem was that we had to educate the uh public at large and the people who came to our place to understand what the concept was other it was not much challenge for us.
we come from a family of Ayurvedic physicians and we are into manufacturing of Ayurvedic products and into research of the products. So this deeprooted connection with Ayurveda is what inspired us and it's not only just inspired with the products that we used we could see such good results for people. So why not take this system of Ayeda with his treatments and therapies directly to the people is what gave us the thought let's start something like this here in Delhi.
When I started I had not done this alternate system of medicine. So when we started and to make the learn the subject I I started learning the subject to know what exactly it it is and that's where then it became easier for you know scientifically to explain to the customers to the guest who's coming to us
you will u build yourself internally for so strong and keep yourself strong and be sure of what you want to do and you will chuck at a plan accordingly. You know you have a family, you know you have children. Only thing that your family should be supportive that is that point. Yeah, that's very very important. If they are not supportive, then nothing goes ahead.
My husband was very supportive. My children were equally supportive. They did whatever they had to do. They know mommy's busy. So but they know whatever is told they have to uh uh follow it. So that was very nice of them and so when any woman wants to do they also should see and how they could balance their time with the family and with the work that you're doing that all can be planned pre-planned then things would go smooth. I think that's how it worked with me.
NABH is the highest recognition of the Indian government in the hospitals and health care sector.
Kairali is also listed among the India's Leading Spa Resorts for many years.
It is a very simple purely vegetarian diet.
Our family has long ayurveda tradition, but The Kairali Ayurvedic Group was established in 1989, when we opened the first ayurveda center in Delhi.
We pioneered in setting up the center, at a time when ayurveda was nearly fading away and people of India also was not aware of subject, what is ayurveda.
We used to do manufacturing of ayurveda products, which were researched and developed from the year 1948.
With very good results, we have introduced into the market products such as Lipidex, Durance, Duravin Forte, Spaliv or Spazyme.
After 1989, when we set up the center in Delhi and offered these services to mankind and the people at large in and around Delhi and successfully completing about almost a decade, we ventured into starting The Ayurvedic Healing Village in Palakkad, the hometown of Ayurveda.
This is a most serene place where you could come and relax, revive and rejuvenate yourself by ayurvedic therapies.
As ayurveda says, you have to take care of your body so that you will live healthy and keep your body healthy.
The preventive aspect of ayurveda is promoted a lot over here, besides also offering treatments for various diseases.
I have published The Ayurvedic Cookbook, which is introducing a very similar diet offered in the Kairali - The Ayurveda Healing Village.
Anyone can visit us, learn it during the stay in our resort and later implement all the cooking principles at home by himself or herself.
All the ingrediencies, which we are using are local and prepared as fresh as possible.
The food is served three times a day in a portions, as much as a body requires, not excess, not less.
The prakriti of each person is kept in mind. Whether the person is a vata, pitta or a kapha prakriti, the food has to suit individually to each type.
during the last years our government elaborated certification standards for ayurveda resorts.
The list of certificated resorts can be checked on Kerala tourism website.
Since last years two categories were recognized, but legislative has been changed and there are three categories - Ayur Silver, Ayur Gold, Ayur Diamond.
Ayur Silver is the category having minimum facilities and Ayur Diamond is category having highest facilities.
Also last year few resorts, among them also Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village, were able to receive NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care Providers).

HOW IS AYURVEDA CONNECTED WITH SPIRITUALITY? Spirituality is something that everyone has to believe in. There is something really supernatural much above our intelligence. That鈥檚 what we call God. Ayurveda has Dhanvantari as its God. We believe in Him a lot because without His blessings nothing will happen. Whatever happens, we say it鈥檚 the blessings of the God. For ultimately, it is He who decid...
